Notifications in Fluid app

edited March 2013 in Feature Requests
Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say, I bought the app tonight and am loving it so far, great work!

I've been using Chrome and the desktop notifications on Mac are working really nicely, such a great feature. I have been using it more, and it makes sense that Remote Messages could work as it's own application, which is how I got onto Fluid (http://fluidapp.com/), and it works nicely, as it should...just without notifications. I was looking to see if I could get it to work, but couldn't find anything online apart from that Fluid should handle notifications normally - even this FAQ says that they should work fine (https://grove.io/help/web-client/fluidapp), but I guess it's something that would have to be updated in the source. There are also some really nice features that you could get working with the JS API, like dock badges etc...is there any way to get a look at the source?

Cheers,

Will

  • I don't use a Mac but I have access to someone else's, so I can give this a try. I know quite a few people who use it, so provided the additions are minimal and don't impact browsers, I'll include it
Don't expect it for 2.0.1 (which is out soon) but I'll give it a play over the weekend most likely.
  • It doesn't actually matter, after a bit of digging I found this blogpost (http://davidwalsh.name/google-app) where you can create a standalone version of Chrome. This has worked nicely and now allows for notifications through the webkit notification api. Just a shame you can create any kind of icon badge with the api, can you?
  • I would LOVE this. As a user who is stuck on Lion (apple refuses to support my older mac pro), this is essential.
